Over 30 Years of Experience

Over the past decade, India has witnessed a steady growth in the field of Child Health & Child Care. With an increasingly high number of vaccines being administered to children in the government and private sectors, the incidence & prevalence of vaccine preventable diseases has shown a considerable decrease. We see more of common viral infections and allergic problems these days. I foresee genetics and immunology playing a major role in child health in future.

It is heartening to see that more and more young Pediatricians are specializing in Pediatric Super-specialties. Their knowledge and skills coupled with improved medical infrastructure in many cities is taking child care to a different level.

Parents today are open to consulting the doctor for common viral infections & health problems related to allergies in children. The most heartening change noticed especially among educated parents is sharing the onus of child health-care along with the doctor. Communication between parents & the doctor has become more open & a two- way process. As a result, parents are helped in taking informed decisions about the child' s health. They have also become more accepting of the advice given by the Pediatrician.

Children are the future work force and intellectual powerhouse of our country. These positive changes in child health & child care need to be taken to slums in cities & towns & also to rural areas. As responsible health- care personnel, we must concentrate on the preventive aspect of Child health & try to rationalize the use of medicines on children.

Let us together contribute to the upliftment of child health.

Many men whom I have come across in life are no doubt with over-powering, intimidating personalities – either because they are physically strong or because they may wield considerable power. However, not one of them has impacted me in any noteworthy manner. On the other hand, very few men exhibit professional expertise, skills & qualities that set them apart from the others. They are an inexhaustible fountain of wisdom & a power house of resilience. Heading this illustrious list of icons is the name of Dr. Y. K. Amdekar. Sir has been my mentor & guiding light; from him I have learnt the most important lesson “mental toughness is the key to success”. Thank you, Sir, for creating in me this never saturating thirst for knowledge & being my educator in the true sense of the term.
