A. If a primary or baby tooth is broken or knocked out, apply pressure with a clean gauze or handkerchief long enough to control bleeding. Once the bleeding stops, it’s advisable to see a Dentist.
If a permanent tooth is knocked out, control the bleeding as explained earlier, handle the tooth in such a way that you don’t touch the root (the part of the tooth that would be in gums). If it has fallen down and is dirty, rinse gently under water without touching the root. The tooth doesn’t need to be cleaned with any cleanser. The knocked out tooth can be placed in egg white or coconut water or milk or saline solution and is transported along with the child to a Dentist at earliest. The saline solution can be prepared at home by adding one teaspoon of table salt to eight ounces of water.
If a permanent tooth is broken, the broken piece of the tooth should be put in milk. You can put a gauze piece or cotton ball in the tooth socket and ask the child to bite it down to help controlling the bleeding. The child then should be taken to the Dentist.
